PROJECT FILE
This is a bathroom refurb we did in Newbury Park in October 2010. Originally two separate rooms, we took out the dividing wall, moved one doorway and removed the other, put up a new ceiling and replaced all the plumbing and electrics. The client decided to change to a Combi boiler half way through, which we arranged for him. This enabled us to take away the tanks and ugly pipe-work and the cupboard in the corner of the room, giving the impression of greater space. Unstable walls were then straightened up and re-plastered prior to tiling. A shallow box was built for pipes and wiring at the head end of the bath and the floorboards strengthened with plywood. The bath went in and the walls were tiled in a traditional pattern with limestone effect ceramics with a real travertine marble mosaic border. The bottom row is always left until after the floor is done to create a neater effect. The floor was tiled in a toning ceramic tile and then the wall tiles finished along with a shelf/box at the foot end of the bath. The toilet, basin and pedestal were added, plus the shower mixer, riser rail and screen. The smart three-handled mixer is a clever unit that supplies either the shower or the bath with water (the bath fills via an outlet in the overflow). The smart chrome radiator is a dual fuel type, and can be heated from the central heating radiator circuit or by an electric element. Finally, the bath panel and shower screen were added...Job done!
